[JOIN THE NETWORK]

ZEBRA AUSTRALIA is currently being administered by the ZA Tasmanian Network. The network is in its infancy and its membership is currently focused upon working towards assisting 'homemakers' realising their ambitions unhindered by the excesses and/or negligence of those elements in ‘the industry' – lawmakers, builders, service providers, developers, bureaucrats and others – who are largely careless of homemaker’s and homebuilder’s needs.

Currently the ZA Tasmanian Network is all too aware that most consumers (homebuilders, and renovators) have no hope of becoming experts in dealing with, or working with, the building industry. One building disaster is all a homebuilder can ever afford in a lifetime. The current situation in the Tasmanian building industry is a minefield for inexperienced homebuilders. That’s why consumers need to find some collective power, and its why ZEBRA AUSTRALIA has been set up. The dispute resolution process in Tasmania (and elswere by and large) right now is a lame duck and it leaves far too many homebuilders and renovators in a desperate position – and typically it is through no fault of their own.

The ZA Tasmanian Network believes that the Australian building industry is deserving of ‘the Queensland approach', undertaken with the appropriate oversight from the Government of Australia. ZA Tas is committed to working towards seeing this, or a like ’system’, being adopted Australia wide – and especially so in Tasmania.

The ZA Tasmanian Network believes that it is appropriate to support the Builders Collective (an initiative of disillusioned members of the industry) as it is working towards addressing past and current concerns in the building industry – and in Tasmania. Also, it offers a model for a solution for reform that is based on the holistic open and transparent Queensland model of industry management – one that also delivers appropriate consumer protection. This model has been professionally researched and ZA Tas endorses a uniform national approach to be overseen by the Federal Government.
